On November 13, 2018, Associate Starr Brookins mentored scholars at Sheehy Elementary, after being invited by Principal Gadson. Sheehy Elementary is named after Dr. Paul Sheehy, who was one of the first African-American physicians practicing medicine in a segregated society. Ms. Brookins is working with Hillsborough County Schools, and Sheehy Elementary, to motivate our children to remain focused on their education, and to disrupt the school to prison pipeline.
