Chance C. Arias has joined Smoak, Chistolini & Barnett as an Associate Attorney.
Chance was born in a small town outside of Chicago, Illinois. He was raised in Tampa and attended Jesuit High School. Chance received his B.S. in Finance from the University of Florida while on a full academic scholarship. He served as his fraternity’s President and Treasurer and was chosen to serve on the UF’s Greek Judicial Board. He then obtained his J.D. from Nova Southeastern University. While in law school, Chance clerked for two well-known insurance defense firms in South Florida.
Following law school, Chance had the honor of serving the citizens of Hillsborough County as a Assistant State Attorney. During his time as a prosecutor, Chance was tasked with handling a wide variety of felony and misdemeanor cases which included Attempted Homicide, Drug Trafficking, Armed Robbery, and other serious crimes against people and property. He is no stranger to a jury, having tried numerous cases to verdict during his tenure at the State Attorney’s Office.
Chance’s practice will include civil litigation with an emphasis on defense of personal injury cases involving motor vehicle accidents, premises liability/negligent security, construction law, and high value catastrophic damages cases. He will be a valuable addition to SCB’s Tampa office.
